Al-Mamoun

Al-Mamoun (786 - 833), full name Abū al-ʿAbbās Abd Allāh ibn Hārūn al-Maʾmūn, was the son of Haroun-el-Raschid, the 7th Abbaside caliph, a great promoter of science and learning.
