Almond

Almond is a seed (kernel). It is oval and nutlike in shape, pointed at one or both ends, and is edible. Almond shells are pale tan coloured. It is obtained from almond tree related to the peach and plum, but belongs to the rose family. Genus of the tree is Prunus, and family name is Rosaceae.

Though, it is native to western Asia, it is widely cultivated elsewhere in the areas that have warm climates.

There are two types of almonds - sweet almond and bitter almond.
