Amboyna

Amboyna, with a chief city of the name, the most important of the Moluccas, in the Malay Archipelago, and rich before all in spices. It remained under Dutch possession from 1605 to 1949, who have diligently fostered its capabilities. In 1949 Indonesia became independent and Amboyna came under its rule again.
