Amritendu Mukharjee

Amritendu Mukharjee was a revolutionary freedom fighter of India. He was born in 1908 at Krishnanagar, Nadia , West Bengal. He was son of Late Panchanan Mukherjee who was a land owner. He came in contact with Yugantar Party in 1924. In 1921, he took part in Anti British Students Movement. He did matriculated and then involve in freedom struggle. He was arrested at Krishnanagar on 10.10.1934. and subsequently sentenced to 5 years R.I. under Arms Act, and sent to Andaman jail to serve the sentence, where he participated in the second hunger strike in Cellular Jail. Thereafter, he was released in 1939, interned in 1940, and got a conviction for 6 months for violation interment. His total jail period was more than 5 years.
