Appellation Contrôlée

Aappellation contrôlée, literally controlled appellation, also appellation d'origine contrôlée, is a French term for the description awarded to a wine as a mark of the guarantee of the French wine that it was actually produced at the area specified. The regulatory body of the wine has made it compulsory for the producers of the wines specify this along with mention of the vines used and the method of production.
