Assimilation

Assimilation is a process of absorption and integration of information, ideas, people, culture, any other things into something else. It may be fully understanding and adopting the knowledge, digestion of food or absorption of nutrients by a biological system, or changing a sound into more like another as the Latin prefix 'ad' when added to 'parent' becomes 'apparent' in phonetics and so on.
