Barguest

Barguest, also barghest, was a supposed goblin long an object of terror in the North of England. In Northern English folklore, popular especially in Yorkshire, it is a mythical monstrous black dog with large teeth and claws, appears at night, who saw would die soon, and who would caught only a glimpse, would die within few months. The Manchester Barghest was described as headless. There are many other variations of the apparition with different names.
