Beau Brummell
Beau Brummell (1778-1805), born in London, in his day was the prince of dandies, a pivotal figure in Regency England's men's fashion. He was patronised by the Prince of Wales, afterwards George IV. However, he quarrelled with the prince. When in heavy debt, he fled from his creditors to Calais, where, reduced to destitution, he lived some years in the same reckless fashion. He settled at length in Caen, where he died insane.Nearby pages
