Carbon Accounting

Carbon accounting is a term used in reference to climate change mitigation strategy for the process of tracking carbon footprint of a company or a nation. It determines the amount of greenhouse gas emissions released into atmosphere through various economic activities.

There are four carbon accounting methods - the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) method, the European Union Renewable Energy Directive method, the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) method and the Voluntary Carbon Standard (VCS) carbon accounting method.
