Consumerism

Consumerism is a term in economics for the theory that a country consuming goods and services in larger quantities will be better off economically. Therefore, consumerism seeks to promote the policies and practices that are likely to increase the production and sale of goods and services so that it may create profit and wealth, for those selling them. It is criticised on the ground that individual consumers are at receiving end when a country follows this theory.
