Cooling Degree Day

Cooling Degree Day (CDD) is a term in finance for a day when average temperature is above 65°F due to which people start to cool their buildings by using air conditioners. An index is prepared on the basis of the monthly average CDD values, which in turn becomes the basis of determining prices in weather derivatives trading in summer and also the settlement price for a weather futures contract.
