Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA)
Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) is an organization established to handle internet assigned numbers. The IANA functions have historically included: the maintenance of the registry of technical Internet protocol parameters; the administration of certain responsibilities associated with Internet DNS root zone and the allocation of Internet numbering resources.ICANN has performed the IANA (Internet Assigned Numbers Authority) Functions on behalf of the global Internet community since 1998.
