Margate
Margate is a seaport and watering-place, 3 miles West of the North Foreland, Kent, England. It is with its firm sands, bathing facilities, and various attractions a favourite resort of London holiday-makers. Its church-tower, 135 ft, is a prominent landmark. There are large almshouses and orphanages, and other charitable institutions. The famous painter J. M. W. Turner (1775 – 1851) was at school here.Nearby pages
