PHILIP THE GOOD

PHILIP THE GOOD (1396-1467), grandson of PHILIP THE BOLD (1342-1404), raised the duchy to its zenith of prosperity, influence, and fame; he was alternately in alliance with England, and at peace with his superior, France; ultimately assisting in driving England out of most of her Continental possessions.
