Reuss

Reuss was the name of two German principalities stretching between Bavaria on the South and Prussia on the North. They belonged to the elder and younger branches of the Reuss family. The former was called Reuss-Greiz, the latter Reuss-Schleiz-Gera. Both were hilly, well wooded, and well watered. Farming and textile manufacturing were carried on there. Both were represented in the Reichstag. The executive was in the hands of the hereditary princes, and the legislative powers were vested in popularly elected assemblies.
