Schemnitz
Schemnitz is the German name of Banská Štiavnica. It was a town of Hungary, noted as a mining centre since Roman times, situated in the midst of a mountainous region, 65 miles North by West of Pesth. Bold, silver, copper, and lead are largely wrought, chiefly in the interests of the State. Now the name of the town is Banská Štiavnica and is in Slovakia.Nearby pages
