Seven Dolours of the Virgin

Seven Dolours of the Virgin is the name given to the prediction of Simeon (Luke ii. 35) — the flight into Egypt; the loss of the child in Jerusalem; the sight of her Son bearing the cross; the sight of Him upon the cross; the descent from the cross; and the entombment — the festival in connection with which is celebrated on the Friday before Palm Sunday.
