Sir George Stewart White
Sir George Stewart White (1835-1912) was an English general, has had a brilliant career. He entered the army in 1853. He won the Victoria Cross twice over. He served in the Mutiny, in the Afghan Campaign (1879-1880), in the Nile Expedition (1885), and in the Burmese War (1885-1887). In 1893, he was made Commander-in-Chief in India, and Quartermaster-General in 1898. Later, he distinguishing himself by his generalship and heroism in the South African War.Nearby pages
