Sir Thomas Noon Talfourd

Sir Thomas Noon Talfourd (1795-1854) was an English lawyer and dramatist, born at Doxey, near Stafford. He was called to the bar in 1821, and practised with notable success, becoming in 1849 a justice of Common Pleas and a knight. He was for some years a member of Parliament. He is also known as author of four tragedies, of which "Ion" is the best known. He was the intimate friend and literary executor of Charles Lamb.
