St Paul's School

St Paul's School, at West Kensington, London, founded in 1509, is a famous charity school founded by John Colet, dean of St. Paul's, for children of "every nation, country, and class". Originally stood in St. Paul's Churchyard, was burned out by the Great Fire of 1666. The school subsequently moved four times, due to growing demand, before finally settling at the present 45 acre, riverside site in 1968. In 1870, the Clarendon Commission declared it as one of the ‘nine great public schools’ of England.
