St Edmund
St Edmund (d. 869) was king or "landlord" of East Anglia from 855 until his death. He refused to renounce Christianity and accept heathenism at the hands of a set of "mere physical force" invading Danes, and suffered martyrdom rather. He was made a saint of and had a monastery called "Bury St Edmunds," in Norfolk, raised to his memory over his grave.Nearby pages
