William Edward Hartpole Lecky

William Edward Hartpole Lecky (1838 - 1903) was an Irish historian and suggestive writer, born near Dublin. He represented Dublin University in Parliament. He was the author of "Leaders of Public Opinion," 1861; "The Rise and Influence of the Spirit of Rationalism in Europe," 1865; the "History of European Morals from Augustus to Charlemagne," 1869; and the "History of the Eighteenth Century," 1878-90.
