William Augustus
William Augustus (1721-1765), Duke of Cumberland, was a British general, the second son of George II. He was defeated at Fontenoy by the French in 1745. He defeated the Pretender next year at Culloden. He earned the title of "The Butcher" by his cruelties afterwards. He was beaten in all his battles except this one.Nearby pages
