William Black
William Black (1841-1898) was a Scottish novelist, born in Glasgow. He started life as a journalist in connection with the Morning Star. He wrote several novels, over 30 in number, about the West Highlands of Scotland, rich in picturesque description. The best known and most admired, "A Daughter of Heth," the "Madcap Violet," "Macleod of Dare," "The Strange Adventures of a Phæton," and "A Princess of Thule."
