Sir George Cathcart
Sir George Cathcart (1794-1854) was a Scottish lieutenant-general, son of William Cathcart. He was enlisted in the army. He served in the later Napoleonic wars, and was present at Quatre-Bras and Waterloo. He was governor of the Cape. He brought the Kaffir war to a successful conclusion. He also served in the Crimea, and fell at Inkerman.Nearby pages
