William Forbes Skene

William Forbes Skene (1809-1892) was a Scottish historian, born in Kincardineshire, bred to law. He devoted 40 years of his life to the study of the early, in particular the Celtic, periods of Scottish history, and was from 1881 historiographer for Scotland.
