NARENDRA MODI GOVT IS SET TO IMPLEMENT UNIFORM CIVIL CODE NATIONALLY THIS YEAR

BJP’S VIDEO ON FIRST YEAR OF THIRD MODI REGIME MENTIONS IMMEDIATE IMPLEMENTATION OF UCC
Kalyani Shankar - 2025-04-28 12:48
After the controversial passage of the Waqf Bill, the Modi government plans to implement the equally or even more contentious Uniform Civil Code (UCC) passed last year. This raises the question of whether it's the right time to push for the UCC amid ongoing protests against the Waqf Bill, which began after the UCC was approved in Parliament last year.

The US is poised to offer Saudi Arabia an arms package worth well over $100 billion, sources told Reuters, saying the proposal was being lined up for announcement during President Donald Trump's visit to the kingdom in May.

CHINA WITH ITS OVERCAPACITY IN CEMENT PRODUCTION LOOKS TO AFRICAN MARKETS

FALL IN HOUSING DEMAND HAS LED TO HUGE SURPLUS CAPACITY IN THE CURRENT YEAR
Kunal Bose - 2025-04-28 12:42
The world’s two leading cement producing countries China and India had a few common negative experiences last year resulting principally from falling demand from the infrastructure sector. At all times, at what rate, highways to sea ports to airports will be built will remain a government decision in the two countries to fund new projects. Beijing policy of the past has resulted in the country, the world’s second largest economy after the US already having a fairly robust infrastructure. As a result, the materials that go into building infrastructure from cement to steel to aluminium have all started feeling the impact of demand saturation. To add to the distress of cement makers, China’s property market remains mired in a crisis, resulting from overspeculation by the likes of Evergrande, Country Garden and Sunac defaulting in repayment of borrowings.

RECLAIMING PLACES OF WORSHIP OF MUSLIM COMMUNITY IS A PART OF RIGHT WING AGENDA

BJP LED STATE ADMINISTRATIONS ARE COLLUDING IN ITS IMPLEMENTATION
Irfan Engineer, Neha Dabhade, Mithila Raut - 2025-04-28 12:39
A prominent and increasingly concerning form of structural violence against the Muslim community in India is the reclamation of their places of worship, with claims that these sites were originally Hindu temples or locations of significance within Hindu mythology. The contestation over religious sites is not a novel phenomenon in India; rather, it has a historical precedent marked by conflicts over sacred places.

TRUMP’S WHIMS AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR INDIA MAKE A HEADY CONCOCTION

NEW DELHI MUST DO SOME TOUGH BARGAINING AS TRUMP IS ON A ROLL BACK SPREE
K Raveendran - 2025-04-26 11:49
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s declaration that India could be the first to finalise a trade deal with the United States after President Trump embarked on his reckless trade war against the world signals a strategic point. The proposed agreement offers India an escape hatch from the looming 26 percent reciprocal tariffs that, though currently suspended until July, represent the shadow of Trump’s trade belligerence. In essence, the development may well be India’s best opportunity to engage in tough, calculated bargaining with the United States. This is not just about sidestepping punitive measures; it is about reshaping the economic partnership with Washington on terms that serve India’s long-term interests.

Sushil Kutty - 2025-04-26 11:46
"Always prepared, ever vigilant", 'ADGPI - Indian Army' posted this assertion on 'X'. Pakistan and India have declared 'War' and United States President Donald Trump says it’s up to India and Pakistan to deal with it, "they're close and Kashmir has been between them for 1500 years!"

STRATEGIC AMNESIA: HOW TRUMP’S TARIFFS DISMANTLED U.S. TRADE CREDIBILITY

TRADE WAR SET TO DE-ESCALATE AS U.S. ECONOMY TAKES THE HEAT
Dr Imran Khalid - 2025-04-26 11:34
President Donald Trump’s erratic dance with tariffs continues to confound not just global markets but even his own team. On April 22, in a move that underscored the White House’s habitual policy incoherence, Trump declared that the “very high” tariffs on Chinese goods would soon be “substantially reduced.” This comes after days of raising them dramatically at the start of the month, then selectively exempting key electronics sectors - moves that reflect both strategic confusion and political expediency.

SANGH PARIVAR IS DOMINATING MOST OF LEGISLATURES AND EXECUTIVE IN THE COUNTRY

COERCING THE JUDICIARY TO SUBMISSION IS A PART OF RSS PLAN FOR HINDU RASHTRA
Prof G Mohan Gopal - 2025-04-26 11:31
The recent trenchant villification of the Supreme Court and the judiciary by Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar and BJP MP Nishikant Dubey is in reality an attack against the Constitution and its fundamental principles and values. When the Vice President and Mr. Dubey reject judicial review of the actions of the highest authorities — of the President and of Parliament — they are, in effect, asking for the restoration of the pre-Constitutional principle that the “king can do no wrong”. By rejecting the Supreme Court’s protection of the constitutional rights of backward classes, minorities, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and women against exploitation, dehumanisation and oppression as “triggering civil war”, they are, in effect, lauding the perpetuation of exploitation, dehumanisation and oppression as “social peace”.
